I guess it's that whole "Someone hits a baseball to you. You can calculate the velocity of the ball, the probable landing point (taking into account the rotation of the earth and variations in wind speed), figure out the likely landing impact and the receiving action necessary to cradle the ball... or you can stick out a glove and catch it" thing.
I amuse myself.
