I listened to a podcast recently that said the developers are expecting massive numbers to be sustained over the next several months after release. They say that most of the revenue goes to George Lucas and it might affect developer content production.
I think this is the bane of most MMOs. Additional content/updates has become a requirement for an MMO, I think that is why WOW keeps changing up the playstyle and adding to the lore with new quests, raids and dungeons.
I think SWTOR has the best chance in giving WOW a run for its money. iirc, there isn't any on the radar for the next big MMO (apart from Blizzard's own Titan). And honestly, WOW really needs a competitor.
