I lost Lydia rather early on, while taking that bridge held by bandits east of Whiterun. And now that I am a married woman, Aela is the only companion I need (occasionally). Well, I just discovered this dog, we'll see what I make of that.

Ah, married life... And a dog? Well you're both werewolves, so it isn't too weird... ;)

I had the impression that they can only die if I accidentally hit them, though. I had companions get serious fire blasts from dragons and stuff and they were merely crouching. So I can't rule out that it was me who hit Lydia, or Annekke for that matter, in the chaos of events.

Yeah, I'm not entirely certain if companions even take damage from enemies when they're crouched down like that. I've certainly seen them survive in areas where it seemed like they should have been killed... But no matter, I'll continue believing it was the mage's fault and not mine. Otherwise, how could I possibly sleep at night with that crushing guilt?

I think you are right. The most powerful weapons and armor I use are all from the traders, if I remember correctly. There have been a few items in dungeons that still looked fun, but I am now at a point where I only carry around what I absolutely need and many things get dusty in the chest at home.

The other half of my best items I enchanted myself. So yeah, the loot could be a bit more spectacular at times.

Same here... I bought some items from traders around the mid point of my game, but now there's no longer any need. They offer ebony equipment at best at the moment, sometimes with some enchantments... But now that my enchanting is at 80, I can make better ones myself, lol, so even that has become useless. Just waiting for the next loot level increase when I start getting deadric stuff.

I play a good girl, so I don't try to kill characters that aren't ready to get killed :P

I deny your slanderous accusations. My character is also good. O<img class=' /> By which I mean I always save before going on a murder spree to test out a new weapon or spell, and then reload so no harm is done. The only one I've seriously tried to kill is the Thalmor in the University... And he turned out to be immortal. After that I simply started turning him to ice every time I pass him, as a way of showing my disgust for him.

Oh! While on the topic of immortality, what's even worse are the truly immortal characters, the ones that you can't even hit with weapons or magic. Sanguine and the guy from the Psijic Order are the only ones like that that I've encountered, which I find annoying and disappointing. I was looking forward to an epic clash against the Deadra! But I suppose it makes sense in his case, being a being on an entirely different power scale from humans. But the Psijic guy is just cheating! And if they are truly that powerful and capable of spells that grant them damage immunity, then I want the game to give me the option to quit the lousy University and go join up with his faction instead.
