I'm sorry, that was inaccurate. Fanatic-Templar Send a noteboard - 08/05/2012 04:06:17 AM
I'm not actually certain lag is really the appropriate term, but I am not fluent in the terminology. There was no significant delay between my input and the character's actions, which is what I would generally call lag in, say, StarCraft, instead it was something that I only ever noticed in Battle.net for Diablo II. While the game continues as normal, the game stops processing any hits taken or damage incurred - the enemies' attack animations play as normal and your character can do whatever he normally could, but nobody can damage anybody else.

The problem is that the attacks still connect, and the game will eventually realise this, resolving every action instantly. This is why if you realise this is happening, you should run away immediately and quaff health potions. Unfortunately, in my case it was too late, and I took twenty seconds worth instantly, even though by then I'd ran far away from the battle.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.

I did the beta weekend. It's okay. Not something I'd pay $50 for. *NM* - 01/05/2012 08:50:44 PM 495 Views
My reaction as well. *NM* - 04/05/2012 07:04:02 PM 337 Views
You mean Torchlight II + $30? *NM* - 02/05/2012 03:41:57 AM 328 Views
It felt like Diablo 2 with a less compelling art style. - 02/05/2012 07:33:55 PM 652 Views
Goddamn, we're a cynical bunch. Good luck having any fun on this forum! *NM* - 05/05/2012 04:28:58 AM 357 Views
No, we're just rational. If you like dungeon crawlers, get Torchlight 2 and save money. *NM* - 07/05/2012 11:09:38 AM 345 Views
I don't know about Torchlight 2 (or Diablo III), but... - 07/05/2012 10:23:08 PM 719 Views
I would agree with that. - 08/05/2012 01:44:04 AM 733 Views
So what's this serious like/about anyway? - 05/05/2012 05:30:42 AM 636 Views
If it's anything like Diablo II, you don't need anything to get into it. - 05/05/2012 07:31:19 AM 652 Views
It's what they call a combat rpg - there's not much role-playing to it, admittedly. - 05/05/2012 05:27:39 PM 677 Views
Character building is completely differnt from Diablo 2. It should be much harder to screw yourself. - 05/05/2012 07:47:30 PM 593 Views
Aww. They keep dumbing things down for us. How sweet. - 05/05/2012 09:49:52 PM 643 Views
I agee with the principle, just not the saving thing - 05/05/2012 10:55:13 PM 624 Views

Heh heh . - 07/05/2012 04:47:54 AM 633 Views
You got as far as Diablo? On a computer that had lag? - 07/05/2012 10:20:58 PM 677 Views
I'm sorry, that was inaccurate. - 08/05/2012 04:06:17 AM 708 Views
The diablo animations were laggy on just about any computer. - 08/05/2012 06:27:48 AM 703 Views
You remind me of a Brood War player. *NM* - 06/05/2012 06:50:35 PM 299 Views
Hm. I actually don't mind an overhaul of the levelling. - 07/05/2012 03:02:20 PM 644 Views
