The introduction of the card game, the characters, none of it really spoke to me. It was a huge letdown to me after playing and loving FFVII so much.

There were other aspects that I didn't like as much as in 7 either, though. It lacked a certain magic and was a bit too...technical.

Yeah, I think my problem with it is that I keep trying to hold it up to the amazing standard that FFVII and FFVI set. Those were probably two of the best RPGs I've ever played, and almost anything compared to them pales.
