How about the Prince of Persia games? They're somewhat simillar visually and gameplay-wise, and they've attempted to create believable personalities (though the second one is horrifying in this regard).

And there's Dreamfall, featuring some of the best writing in any game ever. It's fantasy/cyberpunk adventure game with a few crappy fight sequences and some tolerable stealth.
