There are a whole host of advantages and disadvantages. The main disadvantage is that since there are no rules, people have to be pretty careful not to God-mode.

The main advantage is since there are no rules, they're invariably awesome. The RPG board consisted almost entirely of these until the advent of the Mafia-style game, which has been incredibly successful.


Reminds me a bit of diceless RPGs, but you can freeform any RPG with a good group, I remember a game I ran where one session no one even ended up rolling a dice. I always like sessions where it's more like everyone got together to write a chapter than hack and slash some goblins.
