Personally, I think it's very likely that we have nothing to hide in game terms from our DF backgrounds. Of course, a rapist wants to hide he's a rapist IC, because he'll be hung from the nearest tree if he confesses, but in game terms (not to mention IC as a DF, plus the fact that there are no real trees nearby ) nothing will come from it. Maybe some RP moaning, shouting, accusations, disgust etc. Most of us are likely to be murderers, con-men, or what-have-you anyway.

The only thing you really want to hide, I would say, is your role, if you have one, but that's no different from normal games. Since roles are usually assigned randomly, I doubt a person claiming to be something IC (for example, a channeler as two have already done) would also imply something about their in-game-role. If channeler means role, I doubt the two would have claimed channeler so fast. This is even more likely, since the background was not assigned by the mod, but was rather chosen by the player themselves. At most the roles were then tailored a bit to fit the role, but with only a few players, I doubt there are many roles anyway.

Maybe we need to have a distinction between lying IC and OOC? If that is even possible. I will need to think on this a bit more, but I'm just throwing it out there to facilitate the discussion.
