During our Previous Episode...
... <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/20784 />Darkfriends were gathered from afar in the village of Sarel</a> in Amadicia near the border with Altara by Ba'alzamon himself, specialised talents to arrange for the death of an individual called Ordeith. At the Glowing Embers, the local inn, they <a href=">Darkfriends were gathered from afar in the village of Sarel</a> in Amadicia near the border with Altara by Ba'alzamon himself, specialised talents to arrange for the death of an individual called Ordeith. At the Glowing Embers, the local inn, they <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/26300/">poisoned the guests</a>, including group leader Tian Sevran's Amadician soldiers. Bannerman Sevran <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/29274/">loudly proclaimed his desire to have Amadicia rise up against the Whitecloaks</a> that reigned over the country from behind the throne, before his fellows <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/29398/">commenced a horrid slaughter</a> in the common room.
Leaving this carnage behind, the Darkfriends fled to the capital city of Amador, where <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/35464/">Sevran was berated and dismissed from office</a> by his commander, Lord Aemin, who <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/37169/">threatened worse still</a> for Sevran. Meanwhile, the other Darkfriends met with an agent who would help them infiltrate the Fortress of the Light, <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/37384/">Armaz</a>. Armaz informed them that Sevran was wanted for execution by the Children of the Light. He also later informed them that <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/45475/">their target had changed, and that they were to kill a prisoner of the Children called Selim</a> instead. With preparations made, the Darkfriends split up into two groups. The first group, composed of Armaz, Maravin and Xanthe, <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/62955/">slip in easily, one of the guards recognising Armaz</a>, but the second group panics and forgets their plan, <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/66000/"> and get stopped by the guards</a>.
While Sammil and Tian are <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/68881/">brought to the dungeons for questioning</a>, Armaz <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/68493/">reports to Senior Lieutenant Haral</a>, then his group <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/70228/">splits up to gather information</a>.
In the dungeons, after <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/71929/">hearing rumours of a peculiar prisoner</a> and being left in the cold with their sodden stolen clothes for an unknown length of time, Sammil and Tian are to be put to the question, but they <a href="http://www.readandfindout.com/rpg/messageboard/84917/"> attempt to steal their captors' weapons</a> and strike back against the Questioners' enforcers.
Meanwhile, in the Fortress above, cries of alarm sound through the corridors...
(Incidentally, fistofpainx had some background connecting him to Conail Accan, which could have been interesting later on, but oh well
.)
The current situation:
Armaz (Isaac)
After changing into dry and clean clothes, you learned that the Darkfriend spies were locked up in the dark cells at the very bottom of the dungeons, where prisoners are denied the Light they turned their backs on. It is known to be very effective at preparing people to be put to the question. You are heading towards the place where you were to rendez-vous with Maravin and Xanthe when you hear alarms being sounded and cries of Darkfriends and treason in the dungeons.
Tian(Napoleon62) and Sammil(Kronin_al'Sulc)
You were being lead along one of the dark, unlit corridors in the bottom level of the Fortress of the Light, completely naked after the enforcers took all your stuff. The enforcers at either end of the column are carrying the torches that produce the only light on the level. Along the corridor on either side are wooden doors much like the one that barred exit from your own cell.
You have a surprise round against the enforcers, thanks in part to Sammil distracting them earlier with his jokes, but you are using it to attempt to steal their weapons. Sammil, you succeed at a Thievery Skill check, 14+7=21 vs. DC unknown, but Tian fails with a Thievery skill check of 6+0 vs. DC unknown.
Initiative for your combat goes as follows:
Tian 14 (12+2)
Sammil 12 (10+2)
Questioner enforcers 10.
You get to act first, starting with Napoleon, the battle grid is at the bottom of the screen.
Xanthe (Darth_Katie)
After failing to infiltrate the kitchens themselves, you followed some of the servants carrying food, and found what you assume to be the standard path from the kitchens to the dungeons. You also noted a few spots where you could ambush the servants. Satisfied with this knowledge, you prepare to meet back up with Armaz and Maravin, when you hear shouts of Darkfriends and treason in the dungeons.
