Day one doesn't normally have a lot of action. It's normally just people talking about the possibilities in the game, and watching for anyone to do something suspicious. Most people don't tell much about themselves until Day 2, unless they're about to be lynched and role-claiming might save them.

Naming yourself a thatcher doesn't seem to be very bad, but be careful what you reveal. If you give too much info too fast, the DFs might NK (night kill) you if you sound roled.
