Before modification by Isaac at 28/12/2010 10:57:58 PM

Welcome to Dune

Registration for the game is always open, even after play begins. To register for the game simply reply to this post and you will receive your faction, the House you will control for duration of the game. The game is broken into several rounds, each round will begin with the opening of a new thread. For an explanation of the rules see the (Table of Contents link), this also includes details of the setting. To start play, all you need are the basics, and you can look up details and examples as time permits or situation demands, as this is the first time for these game mechanics to be used, I will discuss them during the first round of play, but they are posted and players are welcome and encouraged to read them and ask for explanations.

Dune, Frank Herbert’s Epic SciFi Classic, is set in distant future. All of humanity lives under the rule of the Empire, scattered on uncounted worlds ruled by Feudal Lords. Under the Great Convention a delicate political tripod exists between the Emperor, the assembled Great Houses (known as the Landsdraad), and the Spacing Guild. The Spacing Guild, or the Guild, has a monopoly on Space Travel, and thus all trade. CHOAM, the Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Mercantiles, controls all economic affairs across the cosmos, and the Great Houses covet and fight over valuable directorships in CHOAM.

Players begin the game as one of the Great Houses, called to the Landsdraad Council on the Imperial Capital World of Kaitain. The current Chancellor of the Landsdraad, Archduke Caasi of Is’Mod, has managed to maintain a delicate peace amongst the often feuding Great Houses for many years, but he is old, and many crises loom on the horizon, and his Coalition is beginning to fracture as many of the powerful houses seek to ally themselves with whichever power emerges strongest. Many nobles have put forward their name to be the Next Chancellor of the Landsdraad, will you place your name up for nomination?
