Normality is quite improbable. Someone confirming to every standard of their group is exceedingly rare anyway. And the larger the social structure you are studying, the more improbable normality is. For instance, finding someone normal in, say, a couple is significantly easier than finding someone normal in a school, which is itself significantly more difficult than finding someone normal in a city, province, country, continent, in humanity...

The sheer unlikelihood of someone achieving normality makes it quite exceptional. The average person is abnormal, and even abnormal in many different facets.
