Reading the announcement above, I've decided to follow up on fistofpainx's idea of a continuation story. It works like this: I'll write a part of a story, then cut off at a part that offers multiple options. Then someone else carries on the story a while further, and so forth. I'll edit the posts to link the passages together, so please make the option you are replying to the title of your post, for my sake ;).

I sat on a stone and stared at the sea. The night was cooling fast and I kept my unprotected hands concealed within my coat pockets, but the sight was more than worth the slight discomfort. An unclouded and moonless sky displayed its stars in numbers beyond counting, reflected fitfully in the cresting waves below. The scent of the ocean was unfamiliar to me, but the steady splash of the tide meeting the shore seemed to wash away the very notion of time.

Suddenly, a larger wave was followed by the sound of something large being dragged onto the pebbles. Curious, I got up to take a look. Peering out through the darkness, I was surprised to see what appeared to be...

... a frightful monster!
... a beautiful young woman!
... an old, wooden chest!
... a giant squid!
... a large wooden carving!
... something else!
