“Masquerade! Paper faces on parade…Masquerade! Hide your face so the world will never find you! Masquerade, Every face a different shade… Masquerade! Look around - there’s another mask behind you ”

So sings the large crowd gathered in the foyer and Grand Staircase of the opera house. The Opera Populaire is holding its famous Masquerade ball, the troubles with the Opera Ghost are three months behind the people there and the ball is in full swing. Everyone is drinking and the amazing masks hiding everyone’s identities have brought much merriment. At midnight everything turns sour, at the top of the Grand Staircase a figure appears dressed as the Red Death while clutching a large sheaf of paper. As the figure is about to speak, a second person appears, dressed in the uniform of the Gendarmerie with the hat pulled low over their face. A gesture and most of the party goers close up all the exits bar one. A second gesture and they shuffle out, locking the last door behind them.

There are nine of you left and once the noise outside has settled down the person in the Gendarmerie uniform speaks

“I am Capitan Yunalesca of the Secret Police. I have been living in the opera house for the past few months due to anonymous intelligence from someone regarding the Opera Ghost. I am here to see the Ghost arrested and sentenced along with any allies he has. You will not leave the Opera house until they are found” She slaps her hands together.
