Well, Rule 10 needs revised Isaac Send a noteboard - 21/02/2010 02:06:17 PM
10. Once a player reaches the amount of votes required for a MAJORITY the player will be lynched. Unvotes will NOT BE COUNTED as soon as/after a player has reached majority. To No Lynch, a supermajority must be reached - that is, a 2/3 vote.

We've more or less established that 'no lynch' requires the same number of votes as anything else. I'd go so far as to say we should establish that "Mr. No" is actually a player to vote for, so that if someone had a vote-effecting ability that added 1 more vote to the person they target, they could use that to cause a 'no lynch'

i.e. a player has the ability to send into the mod, once per day, a target who would have 1 more vote on them or alternatively need one less vote to be lycnhed

In such a case, I'd say they should be able to target the 'no lynch' as well. Regardless, any mod planning to introduce such a role in the future would need to remember to specifiy whether or not that is allowable. And again, regardless, I think we can safely say 2/3 is too high, since technically you can achieve a no lynch just by getting 50% to agree not to vote. So that 5 people in a game of 10 can block a lynch whereas 6 is necessary to lynch. The best method I tihnk would be to treat a no lynch like any other candidate for lynch, up to and including being susceptible to vote-effecting abilities, unless otherwise specified.

What also needs to be addressed in this section is how to determine the lynch number, it hasn't come up recently but due to the high amount of inactivity we had for a while between games 6-8 I had placed a ruling that RBIRL and formally inactive players did not count toward the vote total, partial to give mods a bit more leeway in modkills. You don't need to rigourously enforce it, nor worry about waiting till night to introduce a sub, or waiting till night to modkill and show role, if their vote can be counted temporarily as not in effect for voting purposes until they return.

Obviously individual timelines should be left to the mod but I tihnk the precedent established in game 8, that anyone, formally RBIRL or simply inactive, for periods of more than 96 hours had their vote removed from tally until they returned for the purpose of performing a lynch. However, for practical purposes I would suggest 72 or 120 hours, since the site's search function let's you select 3 or 5 days as a timeframe search, not 4, thus allowing a mod to quickly check on a player by going to the search, putting their name in with the 3 or 5 day value, and seeing if their name popped up.
