the writers decided that having a "Daniel has to figure out their language before we can interact with them" scene in every episode would make the show boring. Though, they do have the occasional episode where something like that pops up.
The "Daniel has to figure out the language" bit is one of my favourite parts of the premise. That and the "Daniel is played by James Spader" bit.
