He does need a new look. They painted him as perfect, despite taking away his powers, he was unable to save the world without them.

I think there is real potential in the superman character. They'll just need to have a villain like Doomsday.

And the title needs to get people afraid that superman might actually die. Too often, because of our perception of superman over the years, there's no fear that he could die or that he could fail. B/c he's, well, superman.
