mk so, looking at that neither use is "wrong".

"The "ethnic" character of the term "wog" came into popular usage from the 1950s, when Australia accepted immigration of Italians, Maltese, Cypriots, Greeks, Lebanese who contrasted with the dominant Northern and Western European stock of the Australian population."
Note: Greeks and Italians.
My understanding of wog comes from the Australian use, so I'm still correct in that standing. I wasn't even aware that other portions of the world used the word with any frequency.
But okay. by the old british slang definition, dark skinned africans like some of the native egyptians would be "wogs".

Did you read his post? There's no reason for an Africanish person to play the part. *NM*

Wait...is the racist part the idiocy of trying to say Cleopatra was black or the "wog" calling part?

Hence, your statement "it's not even a proper use of the term wog" is incorrect. *NM*

And no one in the rest of the world cares about Australian slang. They're just weird down there. *NM*

Wouldn't the closest modern ethnicity to the ancient egyptians be the Coptics? *NM*

I wasn't calling anyone a wog, I was suggesting a likely parallel to the Ptolemies' attitude

I completely agree that the "black Cleopatra" syndrome is born of insecurities.
