In fact, I greet each new scandal about Gibson with a healthy dose of schadenfreude, not towards him, but all the people who were ready to canonize him after The Passion of the Christ. I was the only one going "Eh, the movie was okay. If you need Hollywood's help to truly visualize what happened, you haven't been paying attention in Church," and at the same time reminding people: "Hey, do all you folks remember the myriad movies he made glorifying adultery? Remember the ass shot from Lethal Weapon 2?"

All this BS piling on to a guy for a private drunken conversation and some admittedly unpleasant words to a fellow scumbag, when it's really just the PC brigade looking for revenge for that same movie is no less obnoxious in my eyes than the readiness to annoint him a prophet for a single film.
