All this movie can attest to is being a condensed version of the first season of the TV show with dialogue changed to fill in the gaps of time covered in the show.

That being said, the dialogue was terrible for that reason. The actors (when not in action mode) were very wooden. I didn't have a problem with them being white, just them being bad. But that, like the dialogue, falls squarely on MNS's shoulders.
