Director Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green mile) is currently working on "The walking dead", an adaption of Robert Kirkman's comic for AMC. It tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the country in search of a new home away from the hordes.

Six episodes have been ordered for season one. The cast includes Andrew Lincoln (Love actually), Michael Rooker and Laurie Holden. The pilot will premiere in October.

Cinema had a bit of an overdose of Zombies in recent years that only could be saved by a parody like the fantastic Zombieland. Now, TV is an entirely different issue with different rules and I actually like the idea of having a show on the topic. Especially with a talented man like Darabont involved.

Below's the link to a short MTV on-location-featurette if you're curious.

I haven't watched Zombieland yet, but have been wanting too. Is it really that good? Favorite spoof on zombies so far is Shaun of the Dead. Loved that movie.
