The title was really appropriate and I say sci-fi meaning that it used a science ficiton issue to represent or illustrate the main theme which was inappropriate connections and joining things that should be kept seperate. While on some levels it was horror, it wasn't the gross-out or death/shock horror of most films in the genre, but rather revulsion at the implications of the characters' actions.
