I've been married 10 years now, so I know how you feel. My wife actually, and actively, hates all sci-fi & fantasy type shows and movies. There has only been one exception... Firefly. 
I am lucky in that my wife doesn't watch Soaps or most of the reality shows (though that is because I almost always leave the room when she turns one on. )
