Considering that the industry & its commentary is run by liberals, there is no way Sarah Palin's daughter would have ever gotten a fair shake unless she turned on her mother. As it is, even by your version of what happened, she hardlhy qualifies as fame-hungry. You seem to be suggesting she went on a show to make a statement about an issue for which she had been turned into a national poster child, and having a bad experience, declined to continue exploiting that notoriety to act more. That ridicule certainly never stopped people like Anderson or Tequila.

Well, abstinence WOULD have prevented her condition. I know you Muslims believe it is all Allah's will, but there is such a thing as cause and effect there. How do you know the pill or condoms didn't fail her? When you get pregnant than you can talk to a mother about the effectiveness of birth control.

A tactic one graphically fails to employ never does any good. Rather, she is in a position to say, from personal experience, what would have been a better course of action. Without knowing the specific details of her life, you cannot say with any certainty that different methods of education would have served her better. And how is she a hypocrite for telling people the truth about what will happen to them, even if it doesn't apply to her? Are criminals hypocrites when they come to schools to urge kids to keep straight and avoid their own errors? You are taking your political position and villainizing someone speaking from personal experience, simply because it does not match up with your unsupported expectations. At the very least you could respect her choice to promote a more stringent and disciplined approach to the problem. She has her beliefs, and because they don't conform to your expectations of someone in her position, she lash out at her. And talk about hypocrisy - from where is this six figure income supposed to come? Not a single brief TV guest spot! You are lambasting her for the only thing she has done to earn that money! Or do you expect her to leech off her parents? She's an adult.

Well, that's not fame whoring (which consists of doing anything for media attention and publicity, like posing for Playgirl and getting your own reality show - one of the voyeuristic kind, not a ballroom dancing competition), that's taking money for her fame. You say "bound" as if things like that just happen without conscious volitional choices by individuals (actually you seem to have the same idea about pregnancy - that it is some sort of environment-induced disease which strikes at those who don't take precautions). Her pregnancy was already news, and considering that before it was known, people were already accusing her of being the secret mother of her brother Trig, she'd have been hunted down and dug out like every other private personal matter of people who have the temerity to run for an office Barack Obama decides he wants. BO was a great story, in addition to belonging to the party for which 90% of the news media admits to voting. The Palins and the McCain campaign could have done everything in the world to protect her privacy, and it would not have stopped the media from dragging her out to use as a club against the best thing to happen to the McCain campaign since he was taken prisoner in Vietnam. For crying out loud, Obama's opponent for the Senate four years before had his sealed child custody hearing records opened against his wishes and those of his ex-wife at the request of reporters desperate for any sort of dirt on him, and was the subject of a scandal that accused him of...asking to have sex with his wife, and taking no for an answer. Aside from refusing the Vice-Presidential nomination, there is nothing the Palins could have done to protect Bristol, and even then she would not have been forgotten. Rather, she would have been exposed as evidence of a blunder on McCain's part, to make him look jilted by a prospective running mate from a backwater hick state, and an idiot for offering the slot to such "scandal-ridden" candidate. Should Sarah have to end her career and the good she might be able to do because her near-grown daughter made a foolish choice, in direct violation of her outspoken public stance on that very issue?

That's getting paid for what people would be saying about her anyway, and pulling the fangs of a guy who's actually being the fame whore and trying to exploit her for his own quest to fame. According to my brother, that break-up was the result of his wish to do a reality show about them. If Palin was really out for publicity, she'd turn on her mother, or give in to all the popular posiitons on birth control, and whore herself out to the liberal establishment. She COULD have made a fortune and become an even bigger celebrity. The most you can accuse her of is tactics to control the spin of the publicization of her personal life.
