They keep casting Renee Zellweger as a love interest. Do they hate the male heroes so much? Cannoli Send a noteboard - 11/09/2010 11:30:18 PM
I'd want to see her for once play the chick whom the hero can't stand and trades up for the hot one. One of the reasons I am reluctant to even indulge my curiosity or rebel against the anti-Tom Cruise zeitgeist and watch Jerry McGuire is knowing all those trite "romantic" lines from that film ("You had me at hello" "You complete me" "Show me the money" ) are aimed at her. The man can get Nicole Kidman, Elizabeth Shue, Cameron Diaz, Michelle Monaghan, Kelly McGillis and many others whose names escape me at the moment. He does not need to settle for a broad who looks like Renee Zellweger and has kid-baggage to boot. The fact that she apparently succumbs to a line like "show me the money" is proof that even the filmmakers know how far out of her league Tom Cruise is.

And wasn't there a film where somebody went for Catherine Zeta-Jones over her? I mean, come on! Let's not abuse suspension of disbelief any more than they do already.
