Two new GAME OF THRONES previews (now with the new trailer!) - Edit 2

Before modification by ironclad at 29/11/2010 03:40:41 PM

One aired last night on HBO and is linked below. Confusingly, this was a promo for a behind-the-scenes show which is airing next Sunday on HBO, but it does have the first dialogue exchange from the show: Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) reminding Ned (Sean Bean) that the last time Robert Baratheon whisked him away things didn't go well (referring to the civil war and the rebellion).

This is actually nice attention to detail: this scene isn't directly in the novel, but Catelyn remembers it later on (even down to Ned's, "I have no choice,".

Eagle-eyed viewers may also spot an Unsullied, which is really impressive attention to detail: whilst Unsullied guards are present in Pentos in the book, we don't learn anything about them substantially until Book 3. And of course Dinklage @ Tyrion = Awesome.

Another 30-second teaser for the series proper airs tonight in the USA on HBO.

EDIT: It turned out the second 'teaser' was more of a full-blown, minute-long trailer:

Some very interesting elements there. Alfie Allan has had his hair darkened so he much more resembles Theon from the books, whilst they've changed the man being executed from Gared to Will. We get a glimpse of Prince Joffrey and also get to see the Hound and Gregor duking it out. There's also a brief shot of Khal Drogo and one of Dany being 'instructed' in the arts of love by her handmaiden, Doreah (something referenced in the books but not seen). Most of the focus is on the execution scene which will come early in the first episode, particularly on Bran.
