Nah, I was thinking more about the small town boy scout thing. Joel Send a noteboard - 28/12/2010 02:25:05 PM
And I'm not just saying that 'cos I'm drunk on scotch (though it probably doesn't hurt). Still, I have to say, flying above the clouds in a nightie seems like it would be cold, something to which I'm sensitive now that I'm no longer in America. Dropping the girl you're carrying at the time and then catching her: Guaranteed panty dropper. ;)

Best Christ figure since Frodo; no wonder Viasat 4 decided to put it on tonight. :) I have no idea why the classified it as "Historisk" though. *hopes they air Superman II over New Years*

500 wSE points to anyone who spots the Larry Hagman cameo without googling ;)

Because if aliens come to this world they will only land in the US and grow up to become peace loving hippies (with laser eyesight and x-ray vision)

Shit like that could never happen to the rest of the world because they are heathen scum

*this post is in no way having a go at Joel, just the basic plot of every Superman movie)

Now that I think of it though, the comics evidently did a kind of mini-series based on the idea of Supermans rocket landing in the Soviet Union rather than the US. However, the whole bit about the mild mannered reporter who's forced to routinely save the day simply because no one else can, who never lies and never kills due to the good old fashioned heartland values his foster parents instilled, well, it's just so typical of our self image. Presumably, hopefully, no one's ever in danger between 9 and 11 on Sunday, or Superman might miss church. :[ Which of course brings to the Christ parallels so numerous it's hard to track them all.

All the Scandinavian films I've seen have multiple homicides. I wonder how quintessential they are. - 25/12/2010 02:28:41 AM 461 Views
