(Disclaimer: I haven't seen the movie, but have been planning to do so for a while)

I think he's talking about the whole MOVIE emphasis in the movie on how divorce is so very bad. Then, there's the bit about how royals get to choose their reigning name, you've got to be careful to pick a name with no negative aspersions, etc. Soooo...if divorce is so bad, why did QE2 choose to reign with the name 'Elizabeth', when the first Elizabeth was the product of re-marriage following divorce? QE2 is clearly not embarrassed by the association, so what's the hang up on divorce then?

Anyway, Cannoli will correct me if I'm wrong, but I THINK that's the argument he's making.

I find this all highly amusing though. At the end of the day, it's just an apparently well-acted piece of fancified history.
