A woman, who left an angry voicemail for a cinema in Texas because they kicked her out for texting, has found her message being used in a Public Service Announcement (PSA) before all of the theatre's R-rated movies.
The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin has a strict policy on talking and texting, and it seems that this particular customer has pushed the cinema's founder/CEO Tim League over the edge. In a blog post on the cinema's website he wrote:
"I've nearly come to blows more than a few times over the years with rude customers over the same issue.
"When we adopted our strict no talking policy back in 1997 we knew we were going to alienate some of our patrons. That was the plan. If you can't change your behavior and be quiet (or unilluminated) during a movie, then we don't want you at our venue."
The customer, who has not been named, was said to be a repeat offender. However, she claims in her expletive-filled voicemail to have legitimate reasons for using her phone, including that it was "too dark" and she needed to "use her phone as a flashlight".
The team over at the Alamo Drafthouse were having none of it, and the PSA uses text graphics to highlight her verbal slip-ups (she says she's free to use her phone in the 'Magnited States of America'
and frequent bad language.
We'd hate to see what they do when someone spills their popcorn.

i hate the "my phone is on silent" argument, i can still see your phone lighting up row G like a torch! there's a reason the cinema is supposed to be dark...i wish my local cinema was a drafthouse.
