Andy Whitfield, star of the hit show Spartacus: Blood and Sand, died of cancer. The tv show was about to start the 2nd season when Whitfield was diagnosed. Starz decided to make a 6 part prequel to give him time to recover. However, he never did and they were forced to recast the role of Spartacus. See the link below for more info.
I just got done watching Blood and Sand through (to get ready for the release of Gods of the Arena), and I was impressed all over again at how much he brought to the character. Its very sad that he died, but there is comfort in the fact that he was with his family when he did. And also, he knew that he was so well loved by so many.
