I'm torn about this whole thing. (very minor spoilers) badassashaman Send a noteboard - 25/10/2011 09:39:38 PM
I mean, the more SF/Fantasy in the media the better, right?

But I'm still a little pissed about the way this whole story ended, and King's Lucas-style "let me go make some prequels since I'm out of money" attitude in recent years has been annoying.

I mean, that ending SUCKED. <insert rant here>

The series had such potential - and still does, with some creative... massaging of some of the more idiotic treatment of some of the characters. Mordred comes to mind. So does the Crimson King, and pretty much every villain after book four.

And another thing! Is The Gunslinger really going to be enough to stand alone as a movie? It was a great short story, but I can't see it taking more than 75 minutes to tell. Roland walks through the desert. Roland meets crazy people and kills them. Roland meets Jake. They run from zombies. Roland leaves Jake to die. It's not exactly the Godfather, folks.

I like all the creative minds attached to this (except maybe King himself) but I hope the flaws in the source material don't ruin what could be something truly awesome.
