I loved this movie, but its received a lot of bad ratings. Its not as good as 300 in my opinion though a lot of the cinematic styling in the same.
As usual the gods are underused, and the main character and his issues are cliched and forced. But its a visual feast. Its remarkably violent and often macabre, and at stages reminded me of God of War.
Micky Rourke is outstanding as the filthy and evil king Hyperion. Caville lacks charisma but is obviously the lead because he's an underwear model. The Oracle is great and the gods are fantastic, when they're around.
Like many mythological movies, it abuses Greek mythology and if you're a purist, it will finish you off. But if you're up for mindless fun, you'll like it. 8/10.
