I have not read the source material and I am trying to avoid too many spoilers so without going into too much detail, for those of you in the know, is the addition of the hooded figure that saved Andrea going to be a good thing for the show? (wow, how was that for a run on sentence)

It's not usually a good sign when they introduce new characters in the third season of the show but this could be the turn-around that The Walking Dead needs. Thoughts?
