It won't necessarily be the end of the season (SPOILERS from the books) Werthead Send a noteboard - 11/04/2012 12:45:48 PM
I suspect it might be the end of Episode 9 with another episode to help people recover. Based on the timeline, they could even fit the Purple Wedding into Episode 10 and at least end on a partially happy moment (Joffrey's death) only to whack the audience a second time (Tyrion's arrest).

Based on other comments, it also sounds like some of the stuff on the Iron Islands that happened off-page in Book 3 (Balon's death) will be depicted on screen, and the Kingsmoot from AFFC will be brought forwards to its correct chronological location (which should be in the latter half of ASoS, so Season 4).
