They did back in the mid-2000s, but apparently the current management feels that the 18-month or longer gaps between seasons hurt their viewing and subscriber figures. Their current system is to have a big tentpole series on in each quarter of the year, every year, to keep people subscribed all year round. This year that's LUCK, GAME OF THRONES, TRUE BLOOD and BOARDWALK EMPIRE, with their other shows arranged around them.

So they're not going to get into having the long gaps between seasons again, especially not with the importance of the child actors on the show and a reluctance to recast them.
