sons of anarchy is kurt sutter's other show, made after the shield, with much more violence though... i love it anyway, because i love motorcycles and the mc stuff is actually fascinating. i live in ca and there actually are mc's out here and they wear their vests and patches and everything, there are biker joints and old ladies much like in the show except much less violent/dramatic, obviously.

my husband is similar, being from east germany he didn't grow up with tv or americulture. i got him into 6ft under, big bang theory, arrested development, seinfeld, modern family, archer, the venture bros... hoping to get him into the shield and soa, but doubting it will go over well. he hates violence and sf/f... he thought lost was stupid. heh.
