Although the planet/moon from Alien is meant to be in the same solar system.
One theory that is going around is that the ship from Alien predates the ships seen in Prometheus. That it contained all of the engineers alien eggs/samples and was lost/crashed when some of the aliens escaped. What we see in Prometheus is the engineers' attempts to re-create the aliens through biological experimentation. Hence the mural/altar to the alien in the ampule chamber.

A different planet/moon....attempting to re-create something.... I think it could be good. The best part yet would be if the aliens were just another species that the Engineers were attempting to weaponize. They lost control....lost their world to the aliens, and now they are attempting to gain what they lost.
If you really examined the aliens, there would need to be a genetic component to it. It only makes sense. And to the writers/filmakers of this series who are reading this post.....
Be careful who you focus on. Focus on the Aliens...not the Engineers. We want scary and intense...not majestic space voyage for the creators of humanity.

Meh. The movie was OK, I feel like it tried to do too much and didn't finish anything it started

Nothing in this post can spoil the film as badly as the script writer did, so it could be worse *NM*
