One could certainly make the case that Buffy was a superhero, but she wasn't the kind of big-spectacle, tight spandex hero that Marvel is best known for.

I'm definitely not saying it can't be done, I'm just wondering if it HAS been done.


And by modern, I mean, well, modern! Like recent superhero movies have been, ever since the X-Man films (I'm deliberately omitting the Superman and Burton Batman movies- they were pretty camp, overall)
