Including all sorts of junk like the Warg attack and Aragorn falling to a supposed death or the Elves at Helm's Deep or bringing the Hobbits to Osgiliath which really annoyed fanboys like me (especially since it meant cutting out stuff I would've liked to see) while not contributing anything to those who hadn't read the books. Or that's the impression I got from speaking with such people.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
