It felt, sounded, and looked like Kill Bill 1, only worse in just about every way. The action looked cartoon-y, and was uninteresting, the plot meandered and was for the most part entirely pointless, the movie was far too long, the characters were unrealistic, and so on.
The movie had a few good features. Candie's butler was interesting and a fairly original concept, as were the other slaves with seemingly privileged positions. With the way slavery is taught in school it is all too easy to think of them and the slave-owners as all being simply automatons, doing work, dispensing punishment and violence, and so on. This actually showed a mode of life that was more feasible. Candie himself was also pretty good, his high point being when he spoke about being a young boy and wondering why the slaves didn't kill them. At that moment it almost seemed like the movie would have--not a point or a message--an idea that could actually persist after the conclusion of the film. But that turned out to be an illusion and the moment passed as quickly as it came.
It was, overall, a boring and pointless movie, unique and talked about only because of slavery and the constant use of the word "nigger." Take those out of the equation and you have a movie with boring characters, uninspired action, and a weak plot.
Perhaps that would be forgivable if the movie had something interesting to say about slavery, but "SLAVERY IS BAD" just doesn't cut it.

Or a panda bear. That would really suck, too. If it was, IDK, relevant or something.
