Also, aside from a couple of songs (that fat English pustule woman sings one of the better ones), the musical effort is a failed one as well. If I were to rate modern musicals by how well written the songs are, I think Phantom of the Opera is leagues above Les Miserables in the quality of the score.
considering how much I love Phantom of the Opera and how often I've heard all the songs, it was never a fair comparison, with me hearing the Miserables songs for the first time (okay, except I Dreamed a Dream). Definitely wouldn't surprise me if that impression remained valid on closer acquaintance as well, though.
Fat English pustule woman? Intriguing description, but I have no idea who you're talking about.
