View original postRoland00's claim that Ender is presented as "blameless" in this is laughably untrue; indeed, he is wracked by guilt throughout the book and is almost driven mad by the revelation that he committed xenocide. In the later books, his two drastically different personae are presented as separate entities in humanity's view: they cannot truly believe that the empathic and generous Speaker for the Dead and the vicious and violent Ender the Xenocide could possibly be the same person.

Card purposefully wrote Ender to be blameless, he didn't have intent to commit violence, yet he still performs violence regularly.

Intent is important when one performs a crime. Intent is the difference between murder and manslaughter. Yet at the end of the day the person is still dead even if the perpetrator never intended to kill said person.

Ender didn't intend to kick the bully to the point he either was seriously injured or killed the bully at the beginning movie. Yet that kid was seriously injured or killed (it is not made clear but I am betting on dead.)

Ender did intend to seriously hurt Bonzo but in the end Bonzo is either dead or a crippled

Ender didn't intend to commit genocide in real life, he just intended to commit genocide in a video game to show those pesky little adults that he was ready. He was given a death star in the video game and he was want to show the adults that he was willing and knew how to use the death star. Yet in the end the Ant people are practically wiped out besides 1 queen for it wasn't a video game it was reality.

Motives are not the only thing that matter in reality, the act and the consequences do matter!
