No. Not remotely, not a little bit at all, and probably especially not for you Cannoli Send a noteboard - 31/07/2014 05:46:11 PM

Does/has anyone watched this shows? I normally avoid vampire shows/movies due to the recent glut of them, but I have heard some positive things about it.

Is it worth watching?

I have read one thing at all by the author of the books on which the series is based. It was a short story, presumably intended to be humorous, where a vampire couple watch An Inconvenient Truth and host an eco-friendly party where they murder people for not being green enough. It was a marvel of delicate subtlty and restraint compared to the 2-3 seasons I watched of True Blood. The whole premise of the show is an even more hamfisted homosexual power allegory than the X-men movies. The opening credits features a series macabre, revolting and grotesque images and clip and crude sexual imagery and behavior juxtaposed with religious services and practices. I am morally certain that creator or showrunner is as gay as the Glee creator, due to the same casting of not-quite attractive female actors, obnoxious and repellant portrayals of the majority of female characters, a Mary-Sue-esque flamboyant homosexual whose appalling behavior is rendered beyond criticism by virtue of his sexual orientation, and viciously anti-religious plotlines with strawman positions.

While there are so many anti-religious plotlines and shows on TV, True Blood stands out in how it sacrifices the show's internal logic and common sense to make its anti-religious points. "Bad" characters make "wrong" criticisms or attacks on vampires that in the context of them A. being made against vampries and B. rather justifiable in light of the actions of said vampires actually shown previously, but they are wrong, because they are analogous to positions taken by traditional family advocates in the real world. For example, if homosexuals drained the blood of heterosexuals for pleasure, and held a higher loyalty to a clandestine network of homosexual authorities, to the point where the best and most virtuous or law-abiding homosexual in the world would still murder (or homosexually rape) an innocent stranger at the command of the secret homosexual power structure; well, then a lot of the pro-gay lobby's arguments would hold exactly zero water.

And it has just about every cliche of contemporary vampire fiction. There is a good vampire, who is in love with our heroine, but regrets his past life of being an archetypal vampire villain, and when the sexy female vampire who made him one shows up, despite rumors of her death, he nobly chooses Our Heroine over his former lover. And of course, vampires are archenemies with werewolves (to think that as a young child watching Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein, I thought that the film could have benefited with more of Lon Cheney Jr fighting Bela Lugosi: vampire vs werewolf - what a good idea! Oh, ten year old Cannoli, you poor fool). And of course, the main vampire and werewolf characters are both into Our Heroine, and IIRC, that sentence becomes literal instead of merely figurative down the road.

I don't know your degree of religious affiliation, but the show is liberalism porn, over and above story or character development. It sucked so hard that I gave it up for the latter reasons, but since your identity in this community is Mr Conservative, I recommend it even less.
