The star of the new Minority Report TV show is a black woman! I am not making this up! Cannoli Send a noteboard - 10/10/2015 12:05:41 AM

People are going to look at the promotional images and think it's political piece! That is the most hilarious thing about this whole TV season, probably including the actual comedies.

Speaking of which, I just started watching "Parks and Recreation" on Hulu, and it really isn't that funny. Or original, for that matter. It's Aziz Ansari playing the guy he always plays, and Amy Poehler (sigh, I remember when she was the cute one on SNL) playing Steve Carrel from The Office, which was created by Greg Daniels, who is involved with this show too. One trick pony much? Props to Chris Pratt for actually playing someone other than his Parks & Recreation character. For sure Poehler, Rashida Jones, and Anzari have never done it, that I have seen. Even the guy with the mustache who's the only smart and decent one of the bunch played a fairly similar character in the one movie in which I saw him. I have vowed to stick it out and watch the whole first season, and if it does not get better, laugh in the internet's face and call it stupid.

Anyway that's a bit of a digression from how clueless TV Hollywood seems to have become with their casting of "Minority Report." Why is there a woman starring in it at all? Isn't that kind of insulting to the original author, considering his last name?

Another screwup in a new show this year seems to be "Blindspot"where the hook is a chick covered in tattoos being found in a duffel bag in the middle of Times Square. I'm sure the arresting image helped promote and sell the show, but I don't think they thought it through. For one thing, they are not going to be able to plausibly send the character undercover in slinky gowns or bikinis, and there are going to be limits on how much they can show her half-naked. The last TV show I saw with a character whose entire torso was covered with a plot-relevant tattoo ended up showing him wearing long sleeved sweatshirts in Panama, because however insane a character choice for a Chicago native, it was probably more efficient than putting him in the makeup chair every day. It makes me wonder how fast they're going to give the character a magic tattoo-removal procedure so they can get back to servicing male gaze. For the record, the other show, "Prison Break" held out until early in the fourth (and final) season. But no one was clamoring to see Wentworth Miller in a bikini. On his latest TV appearance, he wears a parka as his main costume.
