Once again Hollywood has sacrificed story for politics and much like in Fury Road they made the male character weaker than he should have been in order to make the female character stronger. The very heart of the feminist mindset and also the reason none of the new hero characters is a white male.

Well yes, but that's more an annoying political correctness rather than any problem with the characters themselves. The characters are interesting and engaging and the acting here is much better than the prequels.

JJ Abrams stuff is very character-driven, and I think that's what he does best...spectacular fast-paced action and strong interesting characters. His weakness is that there's no real logic or depth to the story, and the plotting is terrible...stuff that makes no sense or is totally inconsistent with the setting of the stories...deus ex machinas and Mary Sues, you can see the same strengths and weaknesses on display in his Star Trek stuff.

Lucas has the opposite strengths and weaknesses..his plotting is story telling is excellent, but he falls down on characterization and action scenes.
