In general I have liked the new version of the old animated classics. Cinderella was my daughter's favorite movie when she was 5 but she loved the new less cartoony version. The character all have more depth and are more believable.

The part of the movie I loved the most was the nod to Apocalypse Now. It went over not only my daughters head but my wife's head as well but I loved it.
