The guy was rapidly moving in one direction, and abruptly flies backward after getting a tap from Longclaw.
I don't try to nit-pick stuff like that, going with rule of cool when Bruce Willis launches a car into a helicopter, or the Terminator bounces wrong down the road, but that sword stroke plainly had nothing to do with how its target moved.
