I mean, the entire season has talked about how the mad king left it buried everywhere, and the ex-maester and father of Frankenclegane said the rumors turned out to be true in abundance. Isn't this how Cersei stops the High Sparrow? Maybe she accidentally gets Tommen killed, which will push Jaime over the edge to strangle her?

I definitely think this is all very likely. High Sparrow and Tommen are goners and Cersei goes crazy and needs to be taken out as well. As we enter the "last" season, these secondary issues need to be resolved so the big battle with the Night King can be the focus.
