Some of the plot logic really irked me - Edit 1

Before modification by AgentApple at 26/12/2016 01:51:58 PM

So Cassian was supposed to use Jyn to find Saw Gerrera which was supposed to lead them to Galen Erso. He is doing it on the DL because Mon Mothma's faction wants Galen alive.

Ok. Makes sense so far.

But then Jeddah is nuked by the death star. Cassian witnesses this himself. Why does he still want to kill Galen ? What could he hope to achieve by this now. He should either be ignoring the existence of Galen Erso or trying to help him defect because maybe there is true in the so called weak spot theory.

The try to address this by having the balding general guy tell Casspian "Kill him, who knows what he is developing for them." Really ? What could he be developing after the Death Star that would be worse ?

Anyone want to talk about it?

Felicity Jones is the least aurally offensive of the shrill British chicks infiltrating all the genre movies and shows. I'd much rather listen to her than Emilia Clarke, Daisy Ridley, Gwendolyn Christie or Emma Watson any day, and her character was not a walking bag of obnoxious feminist tropes (I like that they cut the unutterably stupid "This is a rebellion...I rebel" line that appeared in the trailers)

I also thought they got the call-backs or allusions to the other movies just right. I counted a literal dozen characters who had appeared in other Star Wars films, but they never took it over from the actual protagonists, nor did the new characters subvert the heroes of the other movies.

I also liked the explanation for why the Rogue One crew were not seen participating in the other battles of the original trilogy.
