It's been a very long time since I saw BW, so it would be very hard to give details anyway, at least in terms of contrast. But this movie always felt like it was building to something, and you don't feel cheated by the ending. Also I'm sure it helps that this one takes place in a regular ol' house instead of somewhere out in the woods, so it's a lot easier to get wicked creeped out when you get home in the middle of the night and start hearing the floorboards creak.
